JORDAN LECHER, WORLD CHAMPION
Jordan first joined the Blackman BMX Race Team as a 11yr old with what we though was as much potential as any rider to have worn our jersey. He was, and still is, well supported by both dad Russell and mum Christine and the family who have now been joined by a host of young riders who look up to and admire Jordan, not for just what, but also for the way he has acheived some amazing results in his flurishing career.
What you see is what you get with Jordan. He his a quiet young man who lets his riding do the talking. He always makes himself available to chat to younger riders, and also has the older guys chatting to. Most likely about how they are going to hold him out in a few years time as he makes his way into the Pro ranks. Look out guys, he's comming and he's bringing some pretty good mates with him.
The past 12 months has been an amazing ride for Jordie as he has worked so very hard to work his way to the top of the tree. From racing clubbies at his local Penrith Panthers track to travelling to South Africa for the World Championships, he has remained level headed with his eye on the prize at all times.
His run started at the 2009 word titles where Jordan raced his way to the world number 2 plate and his confidence just grew from there. Since then he has doubled up with wins at the 2009 NSW State Titles in 20'' and Cruiser, then pulled out something special to also double up at the 2010 Australian Titles where he put quite a few world class riders out the back door with some extremley fast and skillful riding.
Not done there, Jordan and the family travelled to South Africa to contest the 2010 World Championships. Having made the final in 2009, Jordan showed it was no fluke as he again made his way into the 14yr boys final. Making World finals 2 years running is just an amazing feat. Up against the world best. Jordan saved his worst start of the championships for the final, comming out last but showing great character to plough through the field to place himself as the Worlds number 5 plate holder on 20''. Unfortunatley for the other riders, this just spured Jordan on and he hit the track with one thing on his mind in the Cruiser final. Victory. And that is exactly what he did, Jordan rode like a young man possesed to win and become WORLD CHAMPION in the 13-14yr boys 24" cruise class.
Since the worlds Jordan was Placed 2nd in both classes at the 2010 NSW Titles as a member of the NSW Team.
Jordan also represented Australia in New Zealand in the 14yr boys Trans Tasman team where they took the Number 1 position and he was awarded the BEST RIDER OR THE SERIES.
He also finished 2nd in the 2010 Probikx/Campbikx series after not competing in all the rounds.
Jordan has joined fellow Blackman Bicycles Team rider Alex Lloyd in the newly formed STAATS AUSTRALIA/ BLACKMAN BICYCLES Factory Team.
