Saya’s NSW State Titles Report
Lake Macquarie track for the State Championships was looking really good. I rode the
track back in June for the Pre-Titles and although the track was great back then, it was in
top top condition to end the NSW racing season on a high.
On Saturday I raced in the 14+ Pro class where there were 18 riders entered. It was super
exciting because I was going to have semi finals for the first time in pro.
However, there were 4 riders that were unable to race on race day, which brought down
the numbers to 14 riders. We did not have a semi final today but I knew that it was all
going to be some good racing.
My day was very successful with all wins in my motos and first lane choice in my final. My
final lap was really good. I made minimal mistakes and I thought I rode smoothly. Leanna
Curtis behind me was pretty close giving me a good run for the money but I got myself in
a good lead and finished with a win.
The next day was my racing in the 16 Girls class where I was there to defend my title as
State Champion for the 8th year running.
I had won all of my motos and by the time it came to the final, my legs were fatigued and
the heat wasn’t helping. But I had to push through and finish one more lap. I had lane one
and I had a great start and it was my fastest gate reaction time for the weekend. Staying
in the lead, I concentrated on getting every manual and jump perfect. I was very happy
with my lap and finished strong with a faster time from yesterday’s final.
The weather in Lake Macquarie really turned it on for a great weekend of racing. That’s a
wrap for this year’s worth of NSW racing. Back into training!
